Hi, Tips and Tricks?
Without having to blanket a horse because I live in a hot climate - my horses get that silver smear on their butts from the aluminum walls -
What, if anything, can I do to eliminate this?

The trailer is plenty big for my little 14.2 quarter horse - palomino and aluminum just doesn't mix :-). Thanks for any hints.

In the future a light weight sheet that comes down over the head of the tail would help. To remove the rub marks, try one of those whitening shampoos and leave it sit in awhile. Cowboy Magic green spot remover works pretty good, too.

btw, if your horse is rubbing it's tail other than in the trailer, maybe you should check for worms or for smegma (?) build-up between the teats if it's a mare. When mine get sweaty and dirty between their rear legs, they'll try rubbing.

Thanks,
She isn't rubbing her tail. - the mark was on one side of her butt cheek - perhaps it doesn't take too much to make the marks? - like tennis shoes on a kitchen floor scuff marks?

Hi Kathy,
I've had the same thing on my mare. She'll get a mark as she steps in or out of the trailer and happens to brush against the side. As Sara suggests, a light summer weight sheet will help and I am an absolute avid endorser of the Cowboy Magic spot remover...couldn't own a white horse and live without it.
