In your article about worming a horse with a potential heavy wormload you recommend --benzimadazole paste dewormer like Panacur or Anthelcide or a dose of a pyrantel-based dewormer like Strongid paste --
I am wondering what class moxidectin and praziquantel falls into?
I guess they are more similar to the invermectins, and so should be used after the pyrantels, but that is my guess based on performance promises.

thank you

Hi, Lori,

I've been warned against Moxi with horses who may have some neglect and a large worm load.

After worming with a milder wormer, Moxi might be okay, but Moxi, I've been told, does a "big kill" and can cause problems if it's the first one to be used on a horse with unknown worming history as yours has.

Thanks Holly, That is precisely what I was concerned about.
I will go to town tomorrow and pick up some Strongid or Panacur.
