Hi, I am considering getting a very small mini mare. I have 3 geldings, one is Levi, my problem child, spoiled brat.
Long ago, when I had one horse, Cody, I brought a mare home. She went into season, and Cody turned into a stallion, mounting her, and so uncontrollable. He was 9 then, he is 18 now.
My question is, when this mini goes into season, even though I don't plan on having her in with the big horse, she is about the size of a Labrador Retriever, will my big boys be bothered?
If I were to move her to an area on the other side of the property would that matter?
Also, how bad is it to keep a little one alone, with just fence contact with the big boys? If they wander off, will that be hard on the little gal?
thank

I have a friend that boarded a mini stallion and he didn't care what size the mares were! I don't know if the reaction is the same the other way around. I would suspect it would because the stallions (and some geldings) respond to the scent more than anything else.)
