I'm trying to get a feel for what is normal, in my horse's feet. He's the only TB in the barn. I notice that sometimes he'll have a warmer LF and RH hoof temp. After we ride, all feet feel the same temp.

Just this week the temps are much lower than usual. All four hooves felt cooler (before riding). After we rode in the indoor arena for 45 mins, all hooves were quite warm. Air temp was pretty cool, about 33 degrees. So, as a neophyte horse owner, I hope my questions aren't too dumb. He has had some imbalanced hoof issues since May '13, but it appears from his more balanced, square stance, that they are resolving. Still, I wonder if being a Tb there is greater blood flow to the feet than other horses? Is what I describe normal?

Hello ZBGirl,
I have found wide variations in the observed temperature of healthy hooves so while we cannot say if your horses hooves are normal, what you describe is within the range of normal. I am not aware that TBs might have more blood flow than other breeds of horses.
