Discussion on Daily wormer causing changes in manure?
Author Message

About a week ago, I started feeding Strongid 2x to my little herd. Since then I've noticed that their pasture piles look more like cow patties than horse apples. Also, my dogs (who consider horse DrOppings to be the ultimate dog treats) have been more interested than usual. The color of the manure is darker, too. Is this unusual? Thanks.

I started my mare on Strongid C daily wormer and had the same result. However after about 2-1/2 weeks the manure is now formed and of normal consistency. The color is still slightly darker. I believe it just takes the horse's system time to adjust to the wormer.

Thanks, Ehenry. I suspected that was the cause, but you can't be too sure, eh?

Eva, I started my mare on Strongid two weeks ago, and while her stools were darker, she had no cowpiles as you mentioned. Any of you have a problem with weight gain before Strongid? If so, did your horse or horse's gain weight after using Strongid? I was told that it can help, what are your thoughts.
