Discussion on Spring Pasturing? A little or a lot?

I just put up a temporary pasture, about 1.5 Acre. My 2 horses have been in a stall, in or out at will, with an acre pasture. When I move
them to the new pasture, do you feel it would be Ok to leave them out there for more than 2 hours at a time? I am trying to bring my other pasture back to growing grass, (I want to seed it). The new pasture does not have real rich grass, although it has alot more to graze on then what they are used to. I will have to stall them when I don't have them out on the new pasture, so I really would like to keep them out as much as possible. What is your take on the situation?

Hello Vivian,
Without being able to see the conditions how are we to judge accurately? If in doubt start with 3 hours daily for a week. You can return them to the current pasture until you move them permanantly to the new pasture. Yo may need to further subdivde your total space into 4 equal size areas to mangae 2 horses on 2.5 acres.

PS this discussion will be moved to the care section soon so look for it there.
