I've become a bit of a pro at giving pills to foals. I dissolve the pills if possible or use a coffee grinder. I then mix carrot baby food to the pills and syringe them into the foals mouth. I have a little rubber tubing about 1 1/2 inches long that I attach to the end of the syringe. It is less obtrusive in the babies mouth than putting a whole syringe in there. I can give medicine to foals easily and usually without a halter on them.

Barbara,
That is a great suggestion. I usually use applesauce which works well too. I hadn't thought of rubber tubing, but I will definitely give it a try. Syringes are often too big for little ones mouths.

I do the same as you, except I wasn't smart enough to think of the rubber tubing. Love the idea..and think it would work with older horses that are resistant also.
