Hi all, As it is winter here, I usually pull my horses shoes. this winter I wanted to do more riding and put front shoes with pads and studs (not sure if that is the proper name for snow treads) Well, my green Arab who had just had his first shoes this fall on the front started hitting the front shoes with his hind "bare" feet when trotting. I appears that his opposite hind is hitting the front inside. I haven't been riding much since before christmas as he was having some hind end difficulties due to a fall in Oct. i was letting him run free in an indoor and still noticed the hitting. i'm not sure if he is truely hitting the front with the back as I hear a clicking sound and as he doesn't have shoes on the back prehaps he's hitting the two front feet. I thought maybe putting all 4 shoes on would help balance him. I had none of this hitting with only front "reg" shoes on but the "snow shoe" raise him up a bit. Any thoughts-my farrier is very hard to get a hold of but should be coming out in the next week as it has been 8 weeks since shoeing. He has awsome feet. Thanks Kim

Before you can make recommendations you need to decide what is actually happening. Perhaps videotaping so that you can slow down the film or marking the feet with different colored chaulks might help? DrO
