  Discussion on Biotin / molasses
Author Message

Hello:
I'm not sure if this is the correct section to post my doubt, but here it goes:
Our farrier states that molasses ( eg. in feed )actually annuls the effect of biotin ( as a supplement to feed ). On the other hand, our vet maintains that there's no proof that molasses does that. As we are supplementing some of the horse's feed with biotin ( HoofRite )to strenghten their hooves, and feeding some of the same horses with a molassed feed ( Dengie Mainring )we are wondering who is right... and if we are doing the right thing or not!
Thank you in advance for any advise on this subject.

I know of no work that says molasses will inactivate the biotin and find it unlikely.
