Discussion on Horse for sale with splint

A young horse I'm considering has a cold hard splint, inside of front leg, that the trainer said occurred out in the pasture (assumed the horse managed to knock itself). Never any heat, swelling, lameness, or time off. Any reason to worry about this old (6 mo) injury?
Thx, mw

I had a colt that had the same type of injury. He popped a splint while turned out as a yearling, and was never lame a day on it. It is unsightly, and a minor blemish, but it has never bothered him. In fact he now does 50 and 100 mile endurance races with his new owner (and has won for time and for condition). He has never had a lame day, and he is now 7.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you are overly concerned, have a vet check it.
