Discussion on Supplements for Suspensory Desmitis
Author Message

I have a 9 year old American Saddle Horse that was diagnosed a couple of years ago with the beginnings of suspensory desmitis in his hind legs.

I changed farriers and he is now in much better shape than before. No tripping up at all. But I also use him fairly lightly and don't put him through a lot. I always use sports medicine boots too when riding.

Are there any benefits to adding MSM or Cosequin to his diet? Currently the only supplement my horses get is biotin.

The MSM has no clear benefit in any conditon. The Cosequin will help if your horse has arthritis but probably will not help the desmitis.
