I would like to know what to do if a hematoma or seroma develops. Cold pack it? DMSO? Bute? My 8 month old developed one on his chest sometime during the day today and would like to know at home remedy before calling out vet. How long do I give it before I do call? It is very tender to the touch.

Once the swelling forms all of this will have been a little too late for the best outcome. Instituting such treatment when you see the injurty (if you see the injury) might prevent or at least minimize the occurence of such swelling. If it is tender bute is still logical but the real question is should this be allowed to attempt to heal on its own or should it be drained. Since it is so tender I wonder if it has become infected or not. I would go ahead and call the vet out.
