Or anyone for that matter (;)

My horse's inquinal lymph nodes were swollen yesterday (evidently up to basketball size for a while). He was on pasture, one of my friends saw the swelling and brought him to his stall. By the time I saw him he was still swollen but not that large, I went home, called the vet then went back out to him and they had gone down dramatically. His temp was 100.1 last night.

The vet called back and said as long as they weren't the same size, were going down in size, and there wasn't a fever, he should be fine.

I asked him about the possibility of strangles (he was vaccinated last fall) and he said no.

His glands were still a little swollen this morning, but down from last night.

I was thinking allergies since it was 75 degrees and the oak pollin count was incredibly high yesterday.

My friend who works as a tech with a vet called me today and said to be on the lookout for pigeon fever with him. Do you see this as a possibility?

Do you think allergies is a possibility?

Unfortunately, there has been a new horse next to mine for a couple of weeks, we don't know where he came from and if he has been vaccinated, I'll hopefully find this out tonight; I'll look at the horse on the other side of him tonight to see if he is swollen at all.

btw, everything else about my guy is normal...eating, drinking, etc....

The swelling was completely gone last night. I took his temperature again, just to be sure, still 100.1. When I worked him (lightly) he seemed sluggish, but then worked out of it (as usual).

Another item to add to my list for the vet visit next Thursday. I hope all of this is just coincidental and there is nothing seriously wrong with my precious boy.

Well that was the easiest problem we have addressed in awhile!
