We have a pregnant mare-bred 4 27 03-She had her 1st WN shot 2 wks before she was bred and 2nd shot 2 wks after. I just read the disturbing article about the West Nile vaccine eyed in foal losses. Is there anything that can be done or is it a wait and see situation?

Marlene, I has two mares vacinnated April 2002 and both were then bred with followup booster three weeks later. Both mares also received a WNV vacinnation in March 2003. The foals are healthy. And we live in Colorado. Check them out: www.myarabians.com/angel.html and www.myarabians.com/zelia.html.

Thank you for the encouraging respnnse. It has taken the edge off the shocking news of the problems some breeders are having. Your foals are beautiful. Good luck with them. Thanks sgain,
