I have a 16 year old gelding who developed what thought were shoe boils 3 years ago, but recently the largest one on the left side popped and drained. The right side now has a new bump under the skin next to the old one. We are now doing a full blood panel. Has anyone heard of these or how to treat them properly.

Welcome Margaret,
Concerning the wound itself I would follow the recommendations at Diseases of Horses » Skin Diseases, Wounds, and Swellings » Wounds / Burns » Wounds: First Aid Care.

But the long time outcome depends on determining the cause of the recurrent trauma (exercise or laying down) and being able to address this. Running a search on "shoe boil" and one on "capped elbow" should turn up several discussions on this difficult to deal with problem.
