Hello,
What kind of prognosis is there for a punture wound to the fetlock joint that damaged the joint fluid? Tests are being run to see if there is an infection, howerver this will take 5 days, an agressive treatment of antibiotics with surgery has begun.

just from my experiance i had a huge WB that sliced thru his hind joint capsule, we were there and could see the fluid running out... we had the vet out ASP to clean it up and stitch... we put him on heavy duty antibiotics and stall rest... he healed nicely over time...scaring and a little bigger then the other fetlock tho.

it was the bow tenden later on that did him in..

The prognosis is closely related to the care Lynn, see » Equine Diseases » Lameness » Diseases of Joints » Joint Infection, Joint Ill, and Septic Arthritis for a careful explanation.
