I had a young horse whom was over in the knee and I stopped giving him alot of grain and hay and just let rest and grow and he did come out of it just fine but now my sister has one that the knees got huge and then started bowing in an outward position as if he were bowlegged. Her vet told her he was lacking calcium and put him on alot of vitamins. Are the two conditions caused from the same thing and is she doing the right thing?

No the conditions are not the same but without looking at the horse, a radiograph of the knees, and the diet of the horse Tamela, I really cannot tell if she is doing the right thing or not. If your sister thinks more needs to be done have her get a second opinion.
