Hi Dr. Oglesby,
I'm wondering if you or others have any experience with the use of Polyglycan in the treatment of relatively minor degenerative joint disease in hocks.
Thanks Much!

Hi Dr. O,
Regarding the Polyglycan..
The ingredients in one 10ml (2 dose) vial is:
Hyaluronic acid sodium salt...50mg
Sodium chonDrOitin sulfate....1000mg
N-acetyl-D-glucosamine........1000mg
I believe it is (or was..) most commonly used as a post surgical joint lavage and now being administered into muscle. Loading dose of 5ml every four days for 4 doses...and up to 7 doses if nothing remarkable seen.
Thanks

Dr. O,

I would like to see your response to IKE. I am also curious about this.

Thanks

Hello Guys,
You will find these drugs discussed in a general way in the article on arthritis and reviewed in detail in the articles on the specific medications. There are links in the arthritis article to these articles on the medications. Note that the acetyl-D-glucosamine is discussed in the article on Adequan as it is often marketed as a generic Adequan, which it is not.

However I have not seen any research on this specific product being used IM, nor the IM use of hyaluronate or chonDrOitin.
