Hi, Dr O,

I found an old thread that says if my horse has scratches, I should discontinue feeding any supplement that has yeast in it? He has a case of it right now and gets yeast every day (~1+ tbsp - 2 x day). Is this true? Can I immediately remove from his feeding or should I gradually reduce over the next week or so?

Thanks.

Hello Nadia,
I know on no reason to discontinue feeding yeast to a horse with scratches, was a reason given? I am surprised I did not poo-poo that when it was posted.

The thread starts Sept 10, 2003 "Rain Rot question". You didn't say this - but another member mentions this in relation to the use of probiotic/prebiotics - on Oct 22, 2003 of that thread.

Thanks.
