I have a 14 year old appaloosa gelding who has lost the pigment on his muzzel, around eyes, and rectum this spring. The Muzzel went from dark gray to pink during his shedding process. He has less hair all over his head area as well. The area around his eyes, which were black are now moslty pink with some freckling. I'm creaming at night with "Vet Cream" ( it has aloe ) and during the day creaming with sun block. My question is "Do appaloosas commonly go through such a drastic aging process?" or is this unusual?

No loss of pigment in Appaloosa's is pretty common and not always permanant. Be sure to watch for sunburn though it seems you are working aggresively on this already.
