I've noticed that my 29 year old gelding not only stands under our lovely willow tree for shade and fly relief but yesteday he was eating the leaves--pulling branches down and eating them. Is this dangerous? Thanks.

Though we know these trees have salicylic acid in them there are no reported cases of poisoning from them that I can find. There are many species of willows so there may be differences.
