Dr. O, I am just looking to read about this "ACL" that the vet discussed with me on her last visit. She said that by process of elimination, this was my horse's problem. She said that she saw everything else in the joint with ultrasound and xray. Everything looked okay, so it must be the ACL, which runs right through the middle of the joint and can only be seen by scope. I know that people have them because my husband has torn his several times. However, I can not find it in the article related to the stifle anatomy in horses. Am I using the wrong term?

Yes "ACL" is an abbreviation for one of the two "cruciate" ligaments. There is an anterior (ACL) and posterior (PCL). You will find illustrations of these in the article on Overview of Stifle Lamenes.
