Dr. O, My 27yo mare is off her senior feed today. She is eating timothy and some pasture. Her udder looked swollen and when I tried to touch it, it felt hard and she was very sensitive to any touch. Would this be mastitis? She also has a slight temp. Thanks, Cece

I also noticed that her DrOppings are less and smaller.

Hello Cecelia,
It certainly sounds likely. Have you studied the article for further diagnostic steps and treatment?

Yes, I have read the article. How do you know if it's fungal or bacterial?

Hello Cecelia,
The paragraph on Diagnosis explains the procedure.
