Dr. O,

I had posted a while ago about my warmblood that had wasting back, tremendous thirst, and was eating a lot of salt. We ended up treating him with a low dose of pergolide and he is much, much better now. Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

Now I have another question. This gelding is also on glucosamine and ChonDrOitin. Is this a problem for horses with Cushings? Someone told me the glucosamine increases the likelihood he could founder. My vet says that it is safe.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Put briefly, the concept is nonsense Brenda. Did you hear this from someone you usually consider a reasonable source of information.

Dr. O,

I was told it 3rd hand. I don't even know the person who said it. My barn manager knows her and in conversation it came up and the person told her that a local vet(whom I do know) gave her this information? I thought it sounded pretty far off, but I'd rather be safe than sorry so asked my vet and you.

Thanks again!
Brenda
