Have a pregnant mare due to foal any day now just diagnosed with pigeon fever. Can foal still nurse?

Welcome Laura,
This is not a question we can answer without examining your mare. Pigeon fever ranges from a focal abscess to one with disseminated internal absceses with fever and debilitation. The location of the abscesses may also effect the ability of the foal to nurse or the mare's willingness to let the foal nurse. What does your veterinarian tell you about this?
