I have a 4 year old mini horse and she is shedding out, but looks like she has dandruff all over. I added oil to her grain and her coat is no better. She also has dry hoofs, for that I am putting rain maker on. Also, she has areas of dry skin that flake off and takes the hair with it. There is no puss or moist area...just looks like dry skin. Could this be ring worm? Any suggestions as to how to treat? Thanks...

Hi Deb mine get very flaky in the spring as they are shedding, I think it is an accumulation of the dirt and oil and other yucky stuff that gets stuck in that winter fur. Brushing is the best way to get rid of in, but in the end when mine have completely shed out, their summer coats glisten and the "grundge" disappears.

These two were out all winter when it came to shedding time they both had very flaky skin.. Now both are nicely yak hair free and have a shine on.. Lots of elbow grease and fur eaten..

On the first day God created horses, on the second day he painted them with spots..
