Hey guys,

Well, my yearling managed to inure herself yesterday at some point. I'm thinking it happened when I took my mare out for a ride, but have no idea how she did it.

Anyway, here's a picture of the wound about 24 hours after discovery. I've been cold hosing it for about 10 minutes, then putting Nitro-furazone ointment on it, and keeping it wrapped. Last night, the whole area of the leg was swollen, but tonight the swelling looks like it has gone down a bit.

I will be following the article on long term wound care and will keep ya'll updated. =)

Hello Nicole,
Nitrofurazone spray will adhere better to this area than the ointment but may require a bit of training to get the yearling use to it.

It comes in a spray!!! How cool is that! I'm going down the feed store today to see if I can find some. It might be something I'll have to order though, I don't remember seeing such a thing in my local store, hehe.

Thanks, DrO. =D
