Hi Dr. O.

I am trying to find information regarding the sugar content in corn stalks. The owner of the barn where I board my horse gives the herd the cut stalks - puts them in the paddock for them to feed on. Our horse needs to have a sugar-free diet. Are the cornstalks relatively safe for him?

Thanks.

Sue.

Corn stalks would be low in non-structural carbohydrates Susan and this is a pretty common practice with horses. I have not heard of any problems from the practice.
