Hi,
We just had a beautiful colt born at our local vets. Brought them home today. Because of the history of Rhodococcus on our farm last summer, the vet is suggesting a plasma transfusion within the next day or two, with a second transfusion later. Everyone recovered last summer, but hospitalization and treatment were protracted and expensive. Should we consider plasma? Any supportive data?

Hello Judy,
A great question since there is a commercially available product available and rather than put something out here which may be incorrect with newer products and research I have put the information in the article under the prevention section and have rewritten this area to provide greater emphasis on what I think is the key to prevention.
