Dr. O - recently there have been some stallion advertisements (both AQHA and APHA studs) saying that they are using a semen extender that knocks out the HYPP H carrying sperm. Have you heard anything about this? A product called "HYPP Solution" was initially marketed some time back, but then pulled when shown NOT to be effective. Internet says a vet/researcher (Dr. Sam Prien) at Texas Tech has had some success with mixing a concentrated potassium chloride solution into the extender - neutralizing the HYPP H sperm but harmless to the HYPP N sperm. Any thoughts from you would be most appreciated.

Hello Susan,
I have not heard of HYPP Solution nor do I see any published research on it. As I understand it the Dr is looking for funding to study the idea.
