Now that I have the muscle atrophy problem solved.. we need to work on her maybe "ulcer" issue... My vet says she needs to be treated.. she has had trouble keeping weight and at times her flanks look sunken in and shes cranky more recently. she randomly will pin her ears and grind her teeth at nothing.. the air id say lol.. and sometimes looks colicy even though, she isnt colicing... just starts pawing and what not. along with girthyness which shes always had. My vet is having me powerpac her first. Then she is on the ulcergard paste a tube a day to treat the ulcers.

what else can I do? She is on Purina Stratedy Healthy Edge (which has amplify) and just started her on extra Amplify, and she was on cool calories... And reg grass hay. Someone has suggested alfalfa pellets?? for weight and soothing ulcers? she was on U-guard as a daily supplement but my vet said thats a waste of my money.

any help on ulcers would be very appreciated! she is a nervous TB and stresses easy. Just the other night we had a nasty lightning storm and she was so stressed.. i feel since then she has lost weight again :/

The best treatment for ulcers is a long enough course (8 weeks is often what is needed from what I have read) of GastroGard.

I did find a horse of mine experienced some significant relief from receiving a daily dose of Dynamite Miracle Clay. He would also go for the Izmine in a free choice mineral feeder.

The GastroGard worked really great once he had been on it for several days -- no symptoms.
