I have a 12 year old mini mare. The last couple of years she been very itchy. Her legs, shoulders and her back are all scratch up and scabby (sp?). I've had the vet come out once a couple years when it started and he told me she was allergic to flies. He gave me antibiotics to help with the itch and the scabs all over her. I don't think it help but by fall she wasn't as itchy. I think this year she worst. I've have tried everything. The vet gave me a steroids for her but I really don't thinks it helping.
