Posted on Friday, Nov 18, 2011 - 6:11 am: This is a picture of my 19yo thoroughbred gelding. The vets were treating him for a sinus infection due to the discharge from his nostrils. It is not smelly discharge. After norocillin and potassium iodide with no reduction in the swelling they took some xrays. It showed some intrusion causing a slight protrusion is the line of a bone when compared with the opposite side. Needles were put into the sight at the top and bottom and it was attempted to flush in some fluid without success. No pus came from the needles when inserted only blood flow. I am now faced with whether to euthanise my boy as the vet said it appears to be a rapid growth tumor. Here are some photos. I will not let him suffer. At the moment he is still boss of the herd and eating his usual 2 feeds a day. No sign of discomfort. I feel in limbo with a huge weight on my mind.
