Hello,

When is the best time for my vet to perform a follow-up neurological exam to assess the effectiveness of her treatment with Marquis? Today was only day 11, but I need plenty of notice to make an appointment for the vet to be in my area.
Thanks,
Margo

Hello Margo,
There are no hard and fast rules here but it would reasonable to have a recheck just before the end of the treatment period. By checking at the end of the treatment period it would be easier for the veterinarian to decide if further treatment or perhaps a change in diagnosis or treatment is warranted. Also it you have recurrence of symptoms it would be easier for the vet to see. A second recheck is sensible at about 3 months out following treatment as this may be the time by which maximum improvement will happen.

Thanks, Dr. O. Your 3 month recheck recommendation is counted from the last day of Marquis treatment?

Yes, that would be a reasonable time.
