All of a sudden my normally very quiet 19 year old paint mare is sensitive to the farrier nailing the shoes on her left side only front and back. I have had the same farrier for 2 years and he is very good with her. She did it on her previous shoeing and again recently on her last shoeing. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Hello Terric,
I looked at this last week and really did not know what to say and still don't: Pain? Behavior?, Having a bad day? There are many possible causes but once you rule out pain you will need to retrain the horse here, HorseAdvice.com » Training & Conditioning Horses » Behavior and Training » Modifying a Horses Behavior: Conditioned Responses.
