Was out with my pregnant Arab this evening for about an hour, during that time, she had 3 small spurts of urine in 15 minutes. She didn't "squat, or stretch as she does normally, just up went the tail and out it came, maybe 1/4 cup tops. She usually walks to specific areas of the pasture to urinate. Tonight, it was "cut loose where she stood".

If she goes 340 days, her first due date is Nov. 4, and that's a solid, I know when she was breed and when she settled, I own the stallion. And it was totally stealth on their part....don't ask, they were slick about it!

So...........could this be because the foal is more active (yep, she's getting to the uncomfortable stage, stomping a bit, not starting to bag up and no side biting yet), or the foal might have just been putting pressure on her bladder this evening?

No squirts while she was eating this morning or evening, and not while I was grooming her this afternoon. This is the 2nd pregnancy this mare has had since I've had her. Previous pregnancy was her first at 10 years old, no issues or problems.
When she does pee, she "pees like a race horse", like she's holding her bladder(not urinating every 15-20 minutes in large amounts, but maybe every 2 hours or so?)

She's healthy, has gotten a bit lazy,(typical) and I just want to know if this is something that happens occasionally. I've had over 40 situations of mare pregnancy, and this is a new one on me. But I might not have been around if it did happen with other pregnancies? I'm comparing it to my own 2 pregnancies, the last month I had pressure on my bladder......

It's not amniotic fluid, definitely urine.

Any similar situations out there?

Thanks!

Hello Bernia,
Horses frequently have small frequent urinations as a behavioral event, nervousness, fear, aggressiveness, and yes estrus. If this is the only abnormality, I would not key in an important event but I don't know if anything is wrong...or not. For that you need a complete exam.
