Scrape on front of cannon bone hind leg. I water hosed and cleaned when it happened 9 days ago, put a thin Nolvasan type product over it and bandaged. My vet can two days later and looked at it. Decided to put horse on Antibiotics for 7 days.Bandage changing shows very little drainage, but cleaning causes it to bleed. I can't tell from the picture what is healing ok and if granuation tissue is too much causing proud flesh. Still using a zinc based cream provided by the vet. Also the vet has me clean with baby wipes not hosing it? At what point would I stop the bandage and should I let it air when the bandage is off? Cannon bone scrape 7 days after

Hello Laurie,
We cannot make specific recommendations on the treatment of your horse without examining the horse, so you should direct this question to your veterinarian. We do discuss wound healing and wound care in the article including the specific points you raise in your post. After reading the recommendtions you should discuss the concepts that you believe apply to your horse and wound with your veterinarian.

Thank you, I read your page on this. I am taking pictures at each bandage change and sending to my vet. This is a fairly new vet for me. I've never used baby wipes instead of a scrub and water hosing before.
