Hi
i am dealing 4 feet of coronitis on a 6 year old thoroughbred.
It seems to me that it erupted over 2-3 days to the point where horse was lame and i could view Wall or Lamellar Corium where there was a separation of the coronet band.
I, and now the vet, can't identify why? other 3 horses in paddock no probs. All on same food and pasture.
i think this horse maybe spends more time in gray water which is now fenced off than others.

i have treated with initially iodine and then Grated Carrot poultice. Cleaned it up and got rid of lameness at that point.
Now veterinary supervising treatment of cleaning with iodine and gentle scrubbing and applying alternately over 4 times a day, a paste of teracycline/sulfadimidone alternately with 1% Cortisone.
Seem to have reduced inflammation and separation.
What i would like is if i am successful in saving the hoof/hooves (read horse) some guides about the process of helping grow out the coronet.
I have found articles that tell me that the prognosis is not grand with a 4 hoof challenge.
But i am on my way to give it my damndest.
Photos when i log in from phone.
No we haven't done a bisection to put under microscope or see what grows yet. That is because we seem to be gaining ground. A wound maybe wasn't going to help.
Direction to articles much appreciated and yes i have read pretty much all on here. I do have University library access so i can get at academic material also.

Welcome Robbie,
Help growing out hoof..check out HorseAdvice.com » Horse Care » Hoof Care, Hoof Trimming, Shoeing Horses » Care of the Hoof: an Overview it covers a wide range of topics including physiology, nutrition, and environment. Hope this helps. By the way when you say iodine I assume you mean povidone. Straight iodine would be very irritating.

I don't think the prognosis is as bad as you have read but undiagnosed coronitis can be difficult.

Thanks. Will read.
Yes Povidone but also very weak solution with water.
Bands looking good to my eye.
A week ago today I was panicking about horse stepping out of his feet.
