Dear group,

I have a 20 year old Arab gelding who has been my dear companion for 15 years. 13 months ago he developed a slight limp followed by a swelling in his left knee. A trip to the vet and xrays indicated arthritus and bone spurs probably due to his conformation (over at the knee). He has since been on a daily bute tablet and last September I learned about glucosamine and condriton and added this to his diet. His poor knee and leg now look twisted and the other knee is developing similar problems. He is stiff, has a pronounced limp, but still loves life and his pasture. Occasionally he will gallop around and act like his old Arab self, paid for with days of stiffness. Does anyone know of any other supplement/treatment which I might try/add? Ice and linements help, but he is getting worse, fast. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cindy

If the osteoartritis is severe I think what you ae doing is reasonsable. You could spend a lot of money on injections whish would help temporarily but in my mind would not be worth the good they do.
