My horse has been diagnosed with this. Has anyone had any experience with this? How much hair will he loose before I know the glucocorticoids are working? I don't think the wasting has started. Any help is appreciated.

My heart goes out to you and your horse. I know someone else that has a problem that sounds just like your case. This horse is in Colorado and I think he is very young. Hope the steroids work. This is a very good outlet for info. Good Luck

Welcome DL,
As the article outlines this is a very variable disease, with a diagnosis only by rule out. That means that the diagnosis is never 100% certain, and others experiences will not be of little application to your particular case.

But in spite of this uncertainty I had one probably case last year that we caught very early and stop the spread of lesions with corticosteroids though the effected areas are now scarred in. Any areas that already show changes may go ahead and loose hair.
