I just started leasing an Oldenburg gelding. I would suspect he is 12-14 years old. He has been around carrying passengers through Eq and Medal classes for several years. He is a big (17+h), well built boy and very sweet.

When he moves around his stall, all of his joints make a clicking/creaking noise. I can't hear when I am riding, so I don't know how he sounds when he gets going.

This guy hasn't had one loving owner for a while, and I want to do the best by him. Do you think a Glucosamine or other joint supplement would be helpful to him?

He is sound, has some windpuffs, and is over at the knee in front, on the right more than the left.

Thanks,

Suzanne

Some sound horses click Suzanne so it is not necessarily a sign of problems. If there are other signs of joint problems by all means try a joint supplement.

Thanks DrO,

So far, he is very sound so I won't worry about him unless something else turns up.
