During the recovery phase of founder, how often should the feet be X-rayed? My donkey Jet had X-rays taken right after she foundered and again five weeks later. My current vet said she didn't need to be X-rayed till next year when the hoof has grown out. The farrier likes to review the X-rays before she trims and shoes. We are on a five week schedule now with the farrier.

If the farrier would like recent radiographs to guide the trimming I would do it. If the last set of radiographs was done after all pain has passed and there has been no further pain or trimming since, they will probably do but rarely you see further rotation under such circumstances.
