  Discussion on Contracture deformity

Thank you for your expertise regarding my yearling (re: joints popping out at ankles - possible superficial digital contracture). The vet did say she had a contracture deformity in both front legs - probably due to poor combination of mare and sire, since he checked our feeding program and felt nutritional imbalances were probably not the cause. I felt a little more informed after discussions with the horseman's advisor and after reading the literature was able to make a sound decision on her treatment. Thank you.

Thanks for the kudos, Cynthia. While genetics are sure to play a part, too rapid growth appears to be at the heart of a lot of these cases and nutritional restriction, see the article, have become the mainstays of my treatment regimen and have worked.
