Dr. O,

I bought some hCG (Chorulon) from my vet and was wondering how long can I store the unused reconstituted portion and if it has to be frozen or in the fridge. If the product is not reconstituted, what would the shelf life be? Thank you!

I have never bought that brand and depending on several factors (the presence of preservatives for instance) different products will have different recommendations. So you need to get a hold of that specific products insert for proper directions. The brands we are currently using, Novarel, has a recommendation of refrigeration and a 60 days shelf life after reconstitution. Products with no preservative may be just one time use and discarded immediately following reconstitution.

I use this product. It has an expiration date on the vial with the powder in it, I believe. Seems to me it might be good for a year. After it is mixed with the liquid solution it is good for about 14 days, refrigerated. I try to use it within 10 days, just to be safe. EO

I forgot to mention, it needs to be refrigerated before and after reconstitution. EO
