Hi all & Dr.O,

I have posts here & there about my mares & their troubles...and after nerve blocking that didn't do much for my mares except give them both swollen legs and a yukky sore that appeared on the back of one mares ankle, I don't want their joints injected again...so I am going to start both on Adequan next week.
I would like to also try an oral HA along with the Adequan, and after reading thru posts here on HA and HA products, I don't know which 'brand' of HA I should try....seems most of our HA threads are rather old, so maybe by now some members have tried several brands and can recommend one over the other...

also, Dr.O, I realize the research so far on oral HA is rather inconclusive, would you recommend me using it along with the Adequan injections.

Thanks a ton.

Hi, Joanie. Love the picture on your profile! I give my gelding an Adequan IM shot every 4 weeks and a daily glucosamine supplement that has 100 mg of HA in it (nimble supreme). Below is a link to smartpak's website-they have a nice comparison chart showing how much of particular ingredients the joint supplements have. I think I remember reading somewhere to look for levels of 100mg or more. Good luck!

Joanie, for our general recommendations on the oral products see the article Overview of Arthritis. If you remain uncertain be sure to follow the links from the overview to the specific articles on arthritis products. If then you have questions not answered post them there but all of the above requested information is available.
