Thank you Dr. O!!
I will get this information to my vet. It sounds a bit scary with all the precautions. My pony is 24, insulin resistant and has had laminitis in the past.

Although I think these tumors may be his demise if we can't stop their progression soon. Unfortunately if there are some internal ones we can't really treat them locally, correct? The ones in his anus and dock are causing problems as is the large mass in his lip/check that interferes with chewing and has grown thicker in the past 6 months as well. At least now I have an option to look into. It was a relief to hear it didn't appear to have any systemic effects. I'm not sure i could do that to him at this point.

Hi Dr. O,
My vet wasn't very keen on using Cisplatin due to all the handling precautions. A local equine hosp suggested trying Piroxicall although it hasn't been used on melanoma's but has been successful in dogs with sarcomas. What do you know about this drug?

He has new activity near his anus, in the past the draining has preceded shrinking. (we upped his cimedine and I added Echinacea plus)

When i get the Piroxicall it will be fed at 6 20mg capsules once a day. Kim
