I've searched your topics but can not find something similar.

About one month ago my gelding was collicing so I gave him a shot of Banamine. I tried to get it into his hind leg but he is 17.2 and only three making it a difficult task. So, I opted for the neck as I didn't want to get my head kicked off. My vet was 45 minutes away and he needed it ASAP. I gave him 12cc. It has been a month and he still has a lump in his neck. Although it is slightly painful when pushed on there has not been heat or fever. It is roughly the about two inches in diameter but only protrudes about 1/4 of an inch. Should I worry? Should I lance it? My pregnant mare had a terrible reaction to her vaccines during her last part of pregnancy causing an abortion of an almost full term foal (10 1/2 months). We lost him as her abortion caused her to expel everything (red-bag) causing a dummy foal with hypoxia and septicemia. We kept him alive for 5 days before losing the battle. Then we had to lance her abscess and flush her wound until it granulated in (about 2 weeks). This is obviously not the same situation, but when will it reabsorb?

If the tissue has remained edematous or has scarred in there may be nothing to lance, no fluid pocket. An ultrasound will answer this but if this is not very painful it is not likely to be infected at this time. Consult with your vet but a wait and see seems reasonable from the information you have provided. You might even consider some oral bute.
