Author Message

Can injectable Lasix be given orally? I read in the info on Lasix that they give it 4 hours prerace on track, is that correct? It seems like a long time before they run.

The article on Lasix (furosemide) in this area answers some of these questions and other important ones on Lasix use in race horses. Be sure to review the scientific summaries. Oral administration is probably not effective due to slower absorption. The time of dosage may be controlled by the racing commision of the track and not science.
