Dr O,
Do you know why Nolvasan was pulled from the market? That is my favorite wound cream… I heard a rumor that it was a FDA recall. What’s the skinny?

Thanks
Emily

The Fort Dodge rep says it is on indefinate back order because they are unable to acquire basic ingredients.

Interesting, I wonder if that ingredient is what they are talking about being pulled by the FDA. I called Jeffers Catalog and they had some on the shelf but when the lady went to place the order the computer said "no". She then went and asked Dr Jeffers and he said they could not sell it any longer??? hmmmm

After hearing lots of different reasons as to why Nolvasan was pulled off the market - ranging from it being found to be carcinogenic to a difficulty in obtaining the ingredients - finally found what I believe is the real reason!

Though not incredibly detailed, the FDA Recall Website (https://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/ENFORCE/ENFOO623.html) lists Nolvasan as having been recalled by Fort Dodge on Oct. 15, 1999, due to the following: "Product failed stability testing and is subpotent."

Not that this immediately helps those of us who want it back, but perhaps Fort Dodge will be able to solve this problem & bring the product back in the future.
