I have a TB mare who urinates quite frequenly, more so then her couterpart who is due at same time. I am wondering if this is normal or may be a sign of some kind of problem. Anyone with advice or experience with this please share it with me. Thank you for any help with this matter.

Hello Barbara,
Yes, this may be normal or may be a sign of problems. We have an article on increased urination at » Equine Diseases » Urinary System » Excessive Drinking and Urination, Polydipsia / Polyuria (PD/PU). It helps explain how to tell the difference.

Thank you Dr. O. I went to the articles you suggested and I think I will watch her for 30 mintues and see how many times she urinates. Then I will go from there. Thanks again, Barbara

It is not just the frequency but the amounts, Barbara. Frequent urination of small amounts has a different set of rule outs than passing a large amount of urine. The fact that she is pregnant complicates the picture as this can cause frequent urination (» Equine Diseases » Urinary System » Dribbling and Uncontrolled Urination ).
